Don’t be afraid of boredom in the Netherlands. It has plenty of trips and activities to offer.
Family day trip
Your kids would love to go to one of Hollands’ amusement parks. The question is: can you handle it as well? The biggest and most famous theme park is De Efteling in Kaatsheuvel. With 60 rides including the fairytale forest and some crazy roller coasters, there’s fun for everyone.
Animal lovers will have a blast in one of the zoos. Go on a safari in Wildlands adventure zoo, watch the dolphins in the Dolfinarium or feed the monkeys in the Apenheul.
Our top fifteen of day trips
Outdoor
The Dutch love to be on the water. With 2,6 million Dutchies practicing any type of watersport, these activities are very popular. Whether you want to go sailing, surfing or SUPing, there is no doubt you can do it here. And when the temperatures drop, the lakes and canals can be used for ice skating. During the whole year, the beaches are hotspots for sports activities, relaxing or "just" for a walk.
If you’d rather stay on the mainland, the best way to see the country is of course by bicycle. With 22,7 million bicycles, we must admit that the Dutch love a steel horse.
Get your walking boots and blister patches for the Four Days Marches Nijmegen, the largest multiple day marching event in the world with lots of accompanying festivities.
A more quiet trip can be made in beautiful areas such as ‘De Veluwe’ or ‘De Utrechtse Heuvelrug.’ There are multiple walking and cycling routes that show the ever-changing landscapes.
Party
Martin Garrix, Hardwell, Armin van Buuren and DJ Tiësto. Four DJs in the World’s Top 5 DJs are Dutch. You can imagine the Netherlands has a vibrant electronic dance scene. For example, the Amsterdam Dance Event attracts 375,000 visitors within 5 days.
If you are more into rock, pop or any other type of music, no worries. The Dutch festival season is packed with over 800 festivals. Some of the festivals are for free, such as the events on Liberation Day, the 5th of May.
